The Exandria setting would be another good one, but again the legal issues of who owns what rights would probably make that a non-starter. There are some 'low fantasy' settings like Greyhawk or Dragonlance but I suspect the tangle of rights issues would get in the way. The settings they own outright (Forgotten Realms, Ebberon, Barovia) would be difficult to make distinctive from existing MTG planes. I'm not sure how they will manage that though. That said, I still hope they return to the setting someday for a less 'meta' set with a proper story. It takes a bit of adjustment, but if you can take the set for what it is, they (mostly) hit it out of the park. The intent was to capture the feel of D&D the GAME not D&D the fantasy setting. Was it a vibrant exercise in worldbuilding like Ixalan or Ahmonket? No, but it wasn't meant to be. Tarrasque) I actually think the set a a whole did a great job on the flavor. Much as I'm still disappointed in some individual cards (looking at YOU Mr. Like I said, those decks will be like un decks for me. And am even more so looking forward to the Warhammer 40k set. That said I've really been looking forward to this set in spite of various disagreements on the few spoilers so far. I had some significant initial resistance to the idea, but I like the way they're handling it. I'll probably auto scoop against someone running those cards unannounced. I'm fairly underwhelmed, but I plan to partition my Universes Beyond cards into decks separate from my mtg universe decks. So that's maaaybe good enough for trial inclusion in black token/sac/counters themes alongside like Tevesh Szat, who she is demonstrably not as good as for the same mana cost. With a worse plus ability than Garruk, and a close to worthless ultimate. Her best attributes at first glance are she's a more expensive phyrexian arena that can also generate tokens.
